Stereotypical Society.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

To start off, this is not to offend others or target a certain audience at all.

My name is Dejenee Shiflet, stereotypes mean more to me than just people having fun. When i feel the dark mood spread across my body of being ranked based upon something i cannot help because it is in my blood, it angers me. I know each and every one of us at some point or another in our lives have been faced with this type of discrimination. It's not something that needs to go unlooked upon because this is a serious downfall of todays reality.

Stereotypes are towards EVERYTHING in life. People, activities, hobbies, food, objects, anything you can think of can be stereotyped against. So why? I ask myself this question all the time and i challenge you to ask yourself it too. Why is that we think we can be better than others because of our personal background, family traits, physical appearance..etc. Is it because that's what most of us have been grown up with? Or because we like to put others down because of our own disadvantages at humanity? Give yourself an honest answer even if its not between these too. Lying to ourselves about who we are will never get us anywhere.

Feelings hurt, Dreams crushed, Opportunities smashed all because of reckless words others have said to one another in the hope to bring you down. It may seem like laughs and giggles when happening but you never truly know how it feels until you too are in someone elses shoes that you are hurting.

Stereotypes can bring people down, cause disruption in everyday life, and most importantly bring people down to depths of serious regret and hopelessness. Just keep it mind the next time words of judgment flow beyond the tips of your lips.

Here is my stereotype poem:
You can categorize me and put me in a list
You can call me what you want, even alienist
I am me, my own kind, a simple original
You can stare and even make me emotional
But the tears that fall from others words
Come along with smiles and happiness afterwards

Although sterotypes are a thing of today
Its up to us to gather and not dismay
Bring kindness and brightness to those in the dark
Give them a smile and bring a spark
Love each other and leave a mark
To others to always remember you are you
Its simple, its nothing new.

I am who I am, that is me
No matter what color or shape that maybe
I am proud to call me by my name
Dejenee Renee there is no same

Yours truly,
Dejenee
